access issue

Hi,

i have a question. i have a server statically nated to one outside ip. can my inside users access this external ip from inside subnet?

for example server 10.1.1.1 nated to 85.x.x.x

can my internal user from 10.2.2.0 subnet access 85.x.x.x ip if he write this ip in browser ? if yes what should i do allow this? because in my situation internal users couldn't access this server by external ip.

access issue

Hi,

no this is not possible by IP( because hairpinning is not supported on Cisco routers) but it is via FQDN by taking advantage of the DNS doctoring feature( in this case you'll need to have a A record on an external DNS server and the router will change the IP address returned by the server to the inside IP when accessing from inside).

You can also do this using an internal DNS server as it has already been discussed on this forum.

Regards.

Alain
