ASA 5510+: Can I change the default hostname in the default factory config

Hello Experts,

Is there any way to change the default hostname in the default factory config of the ASA so that whenever I bring ASA to the default factory config I get the hostname provided by me

Hi MDP,

As per Cisco ASA design if you erase/clear the memory it will go default hostname and this has been soft coded to the ASA IOS/Image.

Hence we will not be able to hardcode a hostname as per our requirement on the box, a factory default to Cisco ASA will always leave you with default hostname.

Do you mean that the configuration is in the IOS and not on the box(in some hidden dir)?
