Hello Network Gurus,
I'm just the tech guy in our company and one of the network engineers mentioned that we will have a cutover to a new ASE 1gig circuit, he mentioned that he can do trunked VLAN or Routed interface.
I'm kinda confused on what he mentioned, can someone elaborate this, big thanks in advance!

ASE...he could be referring to AT&T's Switched Ethernet service, which is part of their Metropolitan Area Network Ethernet (MAE).

Hi,
Thank you! you're correct we're using ATT switched ethernet. Any idea what he meant by he can do VLAN or Routed interface, I'm just confused if he's talking about lining up VLAN interface to the firewall or something like that. Hope I didn't confuse you more ^_^

Hello,
as far as I know, AT&T offers Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) which lets you extend your LAN to other locations.
The 'routed' would refer to Layer 3 services, such as allowing to configure BGP neighbors, by giving you an IP address...
Obviously I don't know exactly what your engineer means, this is just my guess...
