BGP - Removing a neighbor and removing neighbor from address-family

Hi

I am fairly new to using BGP and still getting my head around some of the processes. I am looking to remove some neighbors from our Routers that are no longer in use. I know i can use the no neighbor x.x.x.x remote-as xxxxx command but was curious as to whether this would remove the neighbor from the address-family ipv4 group as well? which is what i am ideally looking to achieve as well.

As for address-family ipv4, i am trying to gain more understanding of this through curiosity as i am a junior member of the team. From what i can gather so far this looks like it is a group that applies rules to the neighbors entered into an Autonomous System and displays a list of neighbors you wish to advertise routes to?

Trying to look for some sites with regards to the address-family so any information on that would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Tom

From a higher level, yes.  An address family defines neighbors that you want to exchange routes with.

Check out labminutes for some really good configuration tutorials.  http://www.labminutes.com/video/rs

You can also find some really good information here: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/iproute_bgp/configuration/15-mt/irg-15-mt-book.html

Hope this helps.
