Can I recertify my CCNP with another CCNP exam without having its CCNA exam before?

Hello,

my CCNP expires and I know the general requirements to recertify.

I always try to recertify with new exams, so I would like to choose a new CCNP exam this time, too. This time I have not enough free space to make the CCNA of the specialisiation before, so my idea is to do one CCNP exam at first. Just to recertify my old CCNP certificates in time in the first step.

Then I can do the CCNA exam afterwords. I know, that this is no problem for each CCNP to make the CCNA exam afterwords as the last requirement to get the certificate. But in my case:

Is it a valid recertify if I do an CCNP exam of a specification where I didn't do the CCNA exam before? Does it extend my other CCNPs anyway? I'm not sure about this.

To give an example:

Can I do one of the Wireless CCNP exams for recertify other CCNPs certificates I already have, although I didn't made the CCNA Wireless until this point?

Not quite sure i follow, but to sum up;

If you take a CCNP exam (any track) it will renew all your CCNP/CCNA certificates.

However your example if alittle off, as you could not take a CCNP exam in which you have not first done a CCNA in (except CCIE) ... but you get the point.

I believe this is not true as my understanding is you can take any exam to recertify exisitng certifications

Hi there,

I believe you can take any exam in any order you like. In order to gain the certificate, you must have attained the prerequisites.

Case in point, a lot of people after completing CCNP R&S, pass the CCNP ARCH exam, but don't receive the CCDP until they pass the CCDA.

So you should be fine to sit CCNP wireless, but if you ever want the certificate you will need to go back and complete the CCNA wireless exams.

Thanks a lot. Of course, to get the new CCNP certificate I have to come back to the CCNA exam once. That's clear.

At the moment my only goal is to recertify my CCNPs without doing one same exam from the past again.
