Can't get interfaces up together

I have a 2620 and a 2610 router. Hardware is not the issue because when I did a hardware reset indivuidually the interfaces came up fine. However, once I used a crossover cable, I can't get them to be up together. I am so mad because the process is so simple and it's kicking my behind. Any suggestion will be appreciated, family
