Cannot log into Express Setup via https://10.0.0.1 on 3650

Hey,

Just purchased 2 x 3650 switches. I need to set things up to replicate my config from the old 3750s. I've got the switched powered on, ethernet plugged into the back MGMT port and other end into my laptop. I've disabled wifi too. Ethernet shows up, but can't access https://10.0.0.1

I did this once long ago, but can't remember what the trick to fix it was.

It says if you have a static IP at home to change it to 10.0.0.1. Says nothing about disabling wifi, or what the subnet/gateway should be. The MGMT light was green too at leastl. I also tried one of the 24 ports (as doc instructs is ok).

In my ethernet settings under IPv4 on my Windows 10 laptop, I tried manually setting IP 10.0.0.1, subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway blank. I also tried gateway 10.0.0.1 and changed IP to .2 instead of .1. Still cannot access the GUI express interface.

10.0.0.1 is an exclusive class of IP addresses. This address is used for private networks. In all the cases, 10.0.0.1 IP Address is used for logging into the server and getting connected to a server. This address is issued by network hardware to the client side as the default address to access various gateways. It is a special class of IP address that belongs to IPV4 and is used by huge business telecommunication brands.

You might have seen other IP addresses like 192.168.1.1 and also 192.168.0.1, both of them cater to different routers as their default gateway login. The best application you can find is when you have just bought a new router and you want to login and change a few settings. There are tons of things that one can do from the gateway login address. Things like fixing the router’s address, setting up the parental control support.

the management port has special use for out of band management
