Cisco 2811 Stuck in readonly rommon mode

I have a 2811 router and I can not get it to boot properly. I've been troubleshooting it for a few days now but haven't made any progress. I'll start with with I've tried so far and post the output from the commands I have tried.

The router was pulled off our rack after we upgraded to a new router. It has a Cisco 128Mb CF card. When I first booted, it went directly into rommon mode. The first thing I tried was the confreg 0x2142 command. After I power cycle the router it just boots back to the same prompt. I setup a TFTP server and tried copying the IOS but kept getting timeout errors. I tried different ethernet cables and both ports ethernet port on the router but no luck. I then tried the xmodem method and changed the serial baud rate 1152000. I left it running overnight and came back to a timeout error. I then found a spare 256MB Sandisk Compact Flash card and tried the TFTP and xmodem methods again but got the same error. I then bought a compact flash card reader and was able to read and format both cards. I copied the contents of the original CF card to my PC then formatted (tried both FAT and FAT32) and put a new IOS on it but it still would not boot. I then put the original files on the SanDisk CF card (tried both FAT and FAT32 again) but still get the same errors. I then found an old 4GB usb memory stick and formatted it then copied a new IOS to it but I can't seem to access the drive using the DIR command. I just ordered a new OEM Cisco 128MB CF card but it probably will not be here till next week. Any information or suggestions would be helpful. Below is the output from the console.

Eject the CF. Make sure there's the CF slot is empty. Enter the command "dir flash:" and see what error message.
Next, slide a USB stick into the USB slot and enter the command "dir usbflash0:" (or "dir usbflash1:"). Post the output to the commands.

Below is the output as requested...

And this is already with a known working USB stick connected to the router?

Yes, it is the same USB memory stick I was using before. I have some other memory sticks but they're too big to be formatted in FAT. You had said in a previous post "The USB flash drive works but the IOS could be corrupt."Thank you for following up.

Try downloading the IOS again from the Cisco website.
After downloading, compare the MD5 hash value of the IOS downloaded against the MD5 hash value found in the Cisco website. If they match, then try forcing the router to boot the IOS via the USB stick.

Well I checked the MD5 on the IOS files that I have but none of the MD5 checks match, so I'm assuming I've been downloading some bad files. This is an old router and I don't have a service contract with Cisco so I can't download anything from the website. I found a couple links stating that there is a legal method to download firmware images for free but I'm not sure it will work. I don't really have any other option so I'm going to give it a try...

Well, this will definitely cause the router not to boot the IOS.

I thought I would still be able to see the files on the CF card or USB stick with DIR command but I guess I was wrong.

I didn't have any luck getting the IOS image from Cisco support so I decided my best option is to just order another 2811 router that comes with the IOS and just copy the files onto another CF card. Thanks for all your help.

Alright, so I got my second 2811 router so I could get a valid IOS image. It boots up fine without a problem so I copied the contents of the CF card to another CF card and tried booting my other router but it is still stuck in rommon mode. I also tried copying the files to a USB stick but it still would not boot. I then tried booting with the CF card that came with the second router but it still will not boot. I copied the console output from the attempts and posted it below. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm just looking at the previous output and this is what I can say:
1. The USB thumb drive is not a "supported" brand or variety;
2. The CF slot of the first router is, most likely, faulty.

Yeah, I had came to same conclusion that the CF card reader was bad. I have 2 CF cards that work in the other router but not on the old one. Since I figured the CF reader was bad and the USB stick was incompatible, I did some research into getting a different USB stick to boot. I came across this link, https://uwnthesis.wordpress.com/2015/08/31/how-to-convert-a-usb-into-fat-on-windows-7-for-plc-cisco-ios-usb/ , and I was able to get the newer router to boot off a 16GB USB stick but not on the old router. Below is the output from both routers booting off USB. I have the original files that were on the CF card from the old router, which is a different IOS than what came on the new router. I copied the both sets of files to the USB stick, not at the same time but 2 different attempts, but was still unable to get it to boot on the old router.
