Cisco 7200 Bandwidth Points

I have a new 7206vxr and I receive a message on boot up regarding bandwidth points and limiting the bus.

If I move the 2 Port FE card to PCI bus 2...I am at 700 points but I think only 1 port out of 2 Fe ports will be used??

Can someone help me out and let me know more about this and what my options are?

These are the cards installed

2 PORT FE CARD (PA-2FE-TX)

PCI bus mb0_mb1 (Slots 0, 1, 3 and 5) has a capacity of 600 bandwidth points.

Current configuration on bus mb0_mb1 has a total of 1000 bandwidth points.

The set of PA-2FE, PA-POS-2OC3, and I/O-2FE qualify for "half

bandwidth points" consideration, when full bandwidth point counting

results in oversubscription, under the condition that only one of the

two ports is used. With this adjustment, current configuration on bus

mb0_mb1 has a total of 800 bandwidth points.

This configuration has oversubscripted the PCI bus and is not a

supported configuration.

PCI bus mb2 (Slots 2, 4, 6) has a capacity of 600 bandwidth points.

Current configuration on bus mb2 has a total of 300 bandwidth points

This configuration is within the PCI bus capacity and is supported.

Hardware Configuration Guidelines" on Cisco.com <http://www.cisco.com>

Hello Paul,

move 2 PORT FE CARD (PA-2FE-TX) to a free even slot.

on the first PCI bus the two FE on the I/O controller use some resources.

Or better move the PA-POS-2OC3 to an even slot and use only one pos oc3

This is the limitation of C7200 VXR with NPE until NPE 400.

With NPE G1 and NPE G2 the GE ports on board shouldn't subtract BW points to PAs and you don't need an I/O controller on the chassis.

I would consider removing the PA-2FE and using the two FE of the I/O controller.

I know that there are some features like bigger MTU supported on PA-2FE that can be helpful with MPLS.

You need to make some choices the chassis is overloaded

Hope to help

Giuseppe
