Core and CPU on ISR4331

Hi all,

Here is the context, we experienced high cpu (99%) on old Cisco2921 due to high NAT/Throughput usage.

We decided to replace the device by ISR4331/K9 with performance license (Enhancing the throughput to 300Mbps). The ISR4331 is a 8-core cpu.

Now I want to compare the gain earned between the old vs the new routers.

So, I did a "show processes cpu sorted" on the ISR, I have 1% cpu usage in the last 5 minutes

But

When I do a "show processes cpu platform sorted " , I have a detailled cpu repartition among the 8 cores but the overall cpu value says 18-20%...

So I don't know which value I have to take ? 1% or 20% ?

Have you got any idea ?

Thanks in advance

This YouTube video, Understanding Processor Utilization in an ISR 4451-X might give you some more insight into your performance.

The ISR 4451-X introduces the concept of a split control and data plane to branch routing. Dividing the job of the router into multiple parts has some great advantages in areas such as performance reliability and throughput with services. However, with multiple CPUs in the system measuring ...
