Date and time in logging

Hi all

i have two issue

1)I have a Fiber switch C3508G-XL i set date with clock set command when it become reboot it lose its date and time and go back to default date like 1-Mar-1993 like this so please help how i change date and time it remain in this switch

2) when i check its logging i.e sh logging then it show like this

Please check the Conf reg value once.

Thanks for the information.

Here you go the Configuration register is 0xF ...I request you to change it to 0x2102 and hopefully your problem will get resolved.

I did try config reg command to my switch but i am unable to apply this command so please can you tell me how i did use this command on switch

"Some platforms have a hardware clock that is separate from the software clock. In Cisco IOS software syntax, the hardware clock is called the "calendar." The hardware clock is a battery-powered chip that runs continuously, even if the router is powered off or rebooted. After you set the hardware clock, the software clock will be automatically set from the hardware clock when the system is restarted or when the clock read-calendar EXEC command is issued. The time specified in this command is relative to the configured time zone. "

I.e. if you don't have the hardware clock, you'll lose the date/time everytime you reboot. If you do have hardware clock, you'll need to set it. Don't know whether your device has the hardware clock.

BTW: both clocks can drift, both can be kept accurate using NTP.

PS: There's also a IOS command, clock save interval, that saves current time to NVRAM or during shutdown. This would keep the running clock from starting at the default, and would be close with a reload. Might not be supported on your device.

How time is recorded in the syslog can be adjusted.

The command you want in your configuration is:

service timestamps log datetime

There are additional options:

[ uptime | datetime [msec] [localtime] [show-timezone] [year] ]
