DHCP Issue

Hi All

I have the follwoing configuration on one of my routers acting as DHCP  server

ip dhcp pool 0

 network 172.16.0.0 /16

 domain-name cisco.com

 dns-server 172.16.1.102 172.16.2.102

 netbios-name-server 172.16.1.103 172.16.2.103

!

ip dhcp pool 1

 network 172.16.1.0 /24

 default-router 172.16.1.100 172.16.1.101

 lease 30

!

ip dhcp pool 2

 network 172.16.2.0 /24

 default-router 172.16.2.100 172.16.2.101

 lease 30
------------------------------------------

The problem is : I created pool 0 just to inherit the DNS to pool 1&2. If there is user outside pool 1 or 2 ranges, the router is assigning an ip address to that client from pool 0 ? i want to prevent this and force the router to uses pool1 & 2 only and any client outside these ranges should not take an ip address

Hi,

Why don't just do:

ip dhcp pool 1
network 172.16.1.0 /24
default-router 172.16.1.100 172.16.1.101
domain-name cisco.com
dns-server 172.16.1.102 172.16.2.102
lease 30

ip dhcp pool 2
network 172.16.2.0 /24
default-router 172.16.2.100 172.16.2.101
domain-name cisco.com
dns-server 172.16.1.102 172.16.2.102
lease 30

Federico.
