I have a 1711 router in my lab that I want to use to experiment with DLSW. The IOS feature navigator says it's supported and I've tried all the flavors of available IOS except Advanced Enterprise (I don't have enough RAM). I've loaded some of the images into GNS3 and simulated a 1710 (that was the closest model) with 96MB RAM and DLSW commands are available.
Am I missing something? I don't mind spending the money to upgrade the RAM, but I'd like to be certain that is the issue before I do so.
Thanks.

Hello Terry,
you can check by yourself using feature navigator
www.cisco.com/go/fn
then search by feature type
DLSW+
then select platform as C1711
you will be presented with a lis of IOS images supporting the feature with their respective memory requirements
96 MB of RAM is actually the minimum listed in the first page for more recent IOS versions
the same happens wtih 12.3T
Hope to help

I stated in my post that I had done that and it listed DLSW as a feature in several of the releases, but yet it is not available after loading that version of firmware.

I have been stung in the past thinking the ios has loaded, and it hadnt, also it loaded and then found due to not enough or faulty memory/flash it didnt work correctly
Another one - is your router showing the actual hardware you have installed?
If you do decide to go for the the upgrade , I would suggest to use ebay - I got all the rom chips/ram/flash i required for a good price (I upgraded 9x 2651xm's)

Hello Terry,
>> I stated in my post that I had done that
ooops
I was too fast in my answer
I apologize it was not intentional to appear so careless!

I found an old CD with the Enterprise Base firmware (no longer available from Cisco) and it has DLSW capability. I found the RAM upgarde for $25, so I'll probably get that and then upgrade to Advanced Enterprise.
