i am setting up a new office and everything was working fine until i tried to surf the net. i looked at the routing table and found this entry - D 10.10.162.0/24 [90/2172416] via 10.10.162.1, 01:36:31, serial1/0:0 when it should be D 10.10.162.0/24 [90/2172416] via 172.17.1.5, 01:36:31, Serial1/0:0
it looks to me that Internet traffic is being sent back to the 10.10.162.0 subnet when i need it to use 172.17.1.5.
any ideas?

Hey there Jerry,
That route has been sent to you from EIGRP. To have a look at who sent it to you, type "sh ip route 10.10.64.2" it should tell you. If you think you should have a better route to 10.10.162.0 via 172.17.1.5 then it may be in the eigrp database. Type "sh ip eigrp top" and see if it's in there. If it is, then the route from 10.10.162.1 may have a better distance, you can alter this to make it worse that the route you want to take.
To test the route, put a static route in for 10.10.62.0/24 via 172.17.1.5. It also may be that 172.17.2.5 is found via 10.10.62.1 !

I am puzzled about something in the original post. If the issue is trying to surf the Internet then why are we looking at a route for 10.10.162.0? Why are we not looking for the default route?
I am also puzzled in the original post that the route that he found is through interface serial1/0:0 and the route that he expected was also through interface serial1/0:0 but with a different next hop. I think this raises some questions about the topology. What is the address on serial1/0:0 and what is the address of the neighbor on serial1/0:0?
Perhaps Jerry can clarify these points?
