Enable is not workin on ASR! Error in authentication. Plz help

Hi,

After entering “enable” the device doesn’t prompt for any password – just refuses access by “ Error in Authentication”.

Config:

enable secret 4 AbzRD.

aaa new-model

!

aaa group server tacacs+ server

server 10.12.39.18

!

aaa authentication login default local enable

(Priv level 15 and the access for the same is not working)

Issue:

When I hit enable it's not providing/prompting me for any password - it says " Error in Authentication".

% Error in authentication.

This happens after I upgraded to firmware to 15.1(S1) on ASR1006.

Any help would be appriciated.

How have you loged in into the router? VTY or Console?

I see that there is an entry in your config for a tacacs server. Is this an old entry that is no longer being used?

Did you check the error log on this tacacs server as you tried to logon just to eliminate it as a potential problem?
