My question is about interface and sub-interface configuration for frame relay. In my studies and simulations I have learned that one can use point to point subinterfaces, a physical interface configured with inverse arp, or static mapping with the frame-relay map command. Can multiple frame-relay map commands be used on one interface to configure paths to multiple dlcis?

Hi,
multiple map commands can be configure on fram relay multipoint interfaces. In case of point to point no mapping is required.
A ?multipoint? interface by definition is an interface that may connect to multiple end points of a network. Both physical interfaces and multipoint subinterfaces in Frame-Relay are by definition ?multipoint?.
see this for fr introduction: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/cisintwk/ito_doc/frame.htm
hope this will help

Hi,
Yes you can have multiple FR map statements on a multipoint interface. For some good examples regarding frame relay configuration have a look at the Cisco IOS Wide-Area Networking Configuration Guide, Release 12.4, Chapter "Configuring Frame Relay" at

This should pretty much answer all your questions.
Hope this helps! Please use the rating system.
