Hi all experts,

i want to know about supervisor engine redundancy for actvie switch & standby switch. In my work , there has two catalyst 4503E switchs, all features( include IOS version) are same, my IOS version is 12.1(20)EW, and hardware (supervisor engine II plus WS-X4013+ ) is also assembly on chasis.

One switch is operated now and others is still as spare. Now i want to configure one switch is active switch and 2nd is as standby , when primary fail, standby work as primary. So i try to configure from config mode, type " show redundancy " , but "it's unrecognized command" msg apperared and no sign for redundancy see. In privilege mode, i type " show module " , i saw the following.

s4503#sh module

1 FastEthernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)
68 Gigabit Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)

Configuration register is 0x2102

so i don't know how to continue to be complete my mission. Moreover i worry for error occuring while configure two switchs for redundant.

After redundant, it can overlap all dynamic routing information from primary to secondary when primary is failure?

plz help me, step by step guide. thanks

I'm afraid the 4503-E does not support redundant supervisors.
