I have a VPLS lab working. My PE's are connected via a single link with no VRF's.
If I wanted my PE-to-PE links to be inside a VRF how can I get this working.
I have attache the config that is working.
Essentially I want interface GigabitEthernet1 and loopback0 to be in "WAN" vrf.
How would I modify the VPLS config to accommodate this?
I put the interfaces in the WAN VRF, OSPF in the WAN vrf, and I created an bgp addresses family for the WAN VRF.
OSPF and BGP came up just fine but my l2vpn bgp seemed to not come up. Any help would be appreciated.
PE1#show ip bgp l2vpn vpls all summary
BGP router identifier 4.4.4.4, local AS number 1000
BGP table version is 1, main routing table version 1
Neighbor V AS MsgRcvd MsgSent TblVer InQ OutQ Up/Down State/PfxRcd
4.4.4.4 4 1001 0 0 1 0 0 never Idle

Builging a pseudowire through the VRF table is not supported.

Hello,
I'm curious why would you keep your PE-PE links in a VRF? In my, still limited, understanding VRFs are typically used as a secure way for branches to connect through the ISP network. So you would have a customer VRF on a PE interface facing the CPE.
We are typically using EoMPLS to provide L2 VPNs and if your router supports EVC, you can have some great flexibility there. I'm not sure if it's possible to use ip address in VRF in the xconnect command though, and I don't have a test router or GNS3 close right now.

There is the possibility of using this particular ASR for internal WAN routing and External WAN routing. If this were the case I would keep them separated by VRF's.

Is there any documentation you could point me to that I could educate myself with.
thanks

Harold, that being said, is there any way of transporting L2 over L3 without MPLS to a switch such as 4948?
I know about L2TPv3 but it's not supported on 4948 for example, neither is MPLS.
