Dear,

laptop directly connected to dsl modem, but disconnecting from switch

It really doesn't look like it is the switches to me, but more of the Internet side of things. Possibly the Linksys router or poor / limited ISP performance. A few things:

1- Your latest test pings with just the laptop connected to the Linksys show incredibly high ping response times to the DNS server. It gets better, but still that is an issue.

2- The speedtest is a good tool but doesn't really reflect true Internet traffic, especially traffic from multiple hosts. I believe you got comparable results when you tested while connected to the switch.

3- The upload speed is not great (400-800K), this could easily be consumed by multiple hosts accessing the Internet. Couple that with the delay and you could easily get timeouts.

4- Might be a good idea to verify the Linksys has the latest firmware.

5- Might also be a good idea to contact the provider and tell them about the delay and issues you are having and see what they say.

Anyhow, that's my take. Hope it may be of some help.

ya , the ping is around 80ms, when I do the speed test the ping goes high above 400ms, after the speed test is done, the ping comes to 80ms

contacting ISP, they said they changed ports on the ISP cabinet still same, refreshed the DSL line still same

Thanks for the update. I think you know where to focus you attention now. At the very least, identifying the issue is half the problem.

Unless the ISP says you should expect better performance from the DSL and can provide a fix, it may simply be undersized for your needs and an alternative higher bandwidth solution may be needed.

Regards
