IPv6 on ASR 1002-X

I am configuring a new ASR 1002-X. I need to enable ipv6 cef on it. Reading documentation on this, it states that it only operates in distributed mode on the ASR, why is that? What is the purpose for enabling this? What does ipv6 cef distributed accomplish?

In addition, it states that cef is enabled by default. Does this include ipv6? Does ipv6 cef have to enabled seperately?

Distributed CEF causes the linecards to hold the cef tables so that if a packet comes in and leaves on the same linecard it does not cross the backplane to the CPU to come back down.
