Hello everyone,

I have this router IR1101with password recovery disabled, I want to access the rommon to reset the password but I couldn't either by break while loading or by resetting button.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/sec_usr_cfg/configuration/15-sy/sec-usr-cfg-15-sy-book/sec-no-svc-pw-recvry.html#GUID-B64D4DED-70A3-42C9-BBED-46B3803D7982

I read this but how to access the router by telnet when I don't know the IP and the credentials, do you have any solution?

@majidbindaban

 You need to use console port and console cable.

If password recover is disabled, any successful attempts to perform password-recovery will wipe the config of the router.

Hi Leo,

Thanks for your replay, no problem I want to recover access to this router

@majidbindaban If password recovery is disabled on your IR1101, you won't be able to access ROMMON using the break sequence or reset button. The Cisco document confirms that without enabling password recovery beforehand, there's no direct way to reset the password via ROMMON.

Since you don’t know the IP or credentials, Telnet/SSH won’t help unless you have access to an active session (like an open console or saved credentials elsewhere). Your best option is to factory reset the router by booting from an external image (if supported) or replacing the device if it's completely locked out.

If the router is still accessible via the console but you can't log in, you might try checking for AAA authentication fallback options (like local authentication failing over to a remote server). Otherwise, a full reset might be the only solution.
