IR809 boot stops in Rommon-2 "Failed to boot, skip first flash:ir800-universalk9-mz.SPA.156-3.M0a"

Hello!

I have a problem with a IR809 Router, where the router won't boot into IOS. It was working fine but it simply stopped for some reason and I haven't been able to boot the Router since. I attached the complete output of the boot process. It simply stays in rommon-2> for a few minutes before trying to boot again on its own.

Edit: Manual boot ( rommon-2> boot flash:ir800-universalk9-mz.SPA.156-3.M0a) does not work either.

Please help!

Post the complete output to the command "dir flash:".

Hello Leo,

Thank you for replying.

The router booted manually from the same image it had (after dozens of tries).

After it finally booted into IOS, I deleted the image files and loaded the image bundle again, did a "bundle install" to make sure it reinstalls all other components. Hopefully that will be enough to avoid getting stuck in rommon-2 again.

I still don't know what exactly went wrong to begin with. These were the contents of the flash memory before the issue was fixed.

Hi

It could be a problem with image, try to upgrade it, at the end of this link you will find the way to upload an image from rommon:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/800-series-industrial-integrated-services-routers/200712-Rommon-Recovery-procedure-for-the-Cisco.html

Hope it is useful.

The router booted manually from the same image it had (after dozens of tries). Still don't know what was wrong or how it was fixed, it just went away just as it arised. Weird stuff.

Either way, I reinstalled the image using bundle install once I managed to boot into IOS, just in case. Im thinking of upgrading to another version before this starts happening to all my other routers.

Thanks for taking the time to help!
