Issue updating ASA 5505 Software via ASDM

Hello all,

Is anyone else having issues updating the software on an asa via the ASDM? I am using the wizard and login ok but the wizard fails and comes up with an error saying "Unable to upload wizard successfully" I have tried on multiple devices and different connections.

I also can't appear to log a TAC case, the page just doesn't load, I have tried different pc's and also different browsers. I can logon but as soon as I press open case it the page just goes around and around with the circle logo?

Hi Simon,

Yeap the page is taking long time to load, I think it will be ready soon, you could try again later. What ASDM version are you using?, below you will find a link to upgrade the image using command line:

Thanks I will check the link out. I think it's 7.1 but I have tried various ASA's in various locations with the same result.

I did call Cisco earlier and they said they would look into to it but that was hours ago. It's been happening for a couple of days.

Hi All,


Just an update I have spoken to Cisco and it turns out my contract has expired. I can't believe this is normal behavior when it does..... why is there no message about it and a web page just not loading.

Anyway renewed and all ok.

Thanks for the update. Glad to know that you have resolved the issue and that it turned out to be an expiration of your support contract. I agree that it is very much not the expected behavior that the page just would not load. I would certainly expect some error message about no valid contract (or even better a message about expired contract).
