Load Balancing with a single router and single site - multiple WAN links

Hello,

Currently have 2 ISPs connecting to a single 891FW Router. I want to load balance across each of the links depending on link reliability/latency. PFR jumps out right away as a solution but the only design I ever see PFR used with is iWAN where you are connecting to remote sites...Master Controller, Branch Router...etc.

I just want to check to see which link is better to reach a remote location like 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.2 or just in general is more reliable. No specific end destination. The site is a single location and the company doesnt have any other sites but wants reliability locally with multiple links.

IP SLA is an option but from my understanding it doesnt allow both to be active and rather reacts once one link goes down or exceeds the limit of a value such as echo/jitter etc...its binary...either or.

How can I load balance flows over one link or the other and do it intelligently.

Bobby

Hello,

the easiest way in your setup would actually be to have two default static routes and CEF configured. Load balancing would occur based on unique source/destination flows.

That of course is the least complicated solution. Do you have specific requirements as to which traffic has to go through which preferred path ?
