I'm trying to determine what router might best suit the needs of an office with 150+ users, with a seperate building that connects via a point-to-point T1 leading to our router, and our office is then connected with another T1 that leads to a frame-relay network, and one of our ethernet ports leads to the Internet. I've been going back and forth a bit with a sales rep, but he's not helping much. I'd like a little room to grow with this new router, maybe some IDS capability, VoIP. I've tried the dynamic host configuration utility, but there are a lot of options, too many. Could someone point me in the right direction, like 2600 series, 2800 series, IOS and software that could include IDS and VoIP capability?
Thank you,
Bill

Hello Bill,
the 2800 or the 3800 would be a good choice, but I think there is no IDS module available for that platform. You might want to have a look at the 3745, which has Voice and IDS modules, as well as lots of other modules. The 3745 would definitely be able to handle >150 users. The advantage of the 2800 or 3800 is that they have wireless module support, which the 3745 does not have. If you don' t need that, I would seriously consider the 3745...

Wouldn't you say the 3745 may be a little over the top for this type of application? I would really look at the 2800's. The price point and features are just amazing. This series of router will not only handle IDS functions and voice but a multitude of other services. Just my $.02
