The Internet is full of articles advising that NetFlow v5 does not support 'ip flow egress' but I think this must be incorrect or outdated?
I have configured a Cisco 7200 with only 'ip flow egress' enabled (on WAN) with NetFlow version 5 and the flows are exported (as confirmed by Flow Collector and a Wireshark capture).
Was support for egress flow capture with v5 added in later IOS? If so what limitation are there apart from the flow direction not being captured in v5?
Most articles recommend to configure 'ip flow ingress' as best best practise but without egress flow collection how else can you report on the ToS remarked by an egress service-policy as traffic leaves an interface.
Does enabling 'ip flow egress' with v5 enable ingress collection on all other interfaces? If so why do we see the marking applied by the local egress service-policy?
