OSPF and default route

I have configured a 4510 switch for a customer and they are wanting me to connect it to their wan router. They are asking me to setup OSPF on the 4500 advertising a few of the networks. Internet bound traffic will also have to traverse the wan router. The customer does not want the default route 0 0 statement on the 4500 to be advertised into OSPF. As long as I don't have the default-information-originate command in the OSPF process the default route won't be advertised right?

router ospf 13

network 161.X.X.X  0.0.2.255 area 13

network  10.X.X.X 0.0.3.255 area 13

!

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 161.X.X.1 points to the wan router

4500>>>>>>>>2951 wan router>>>>>>>>>>>>DS3 LINK>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WAN ROUTER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Internet

Hello Joel!

You are absolutely correct by not using the default-information-originate command, the default zero route will not be advertised.

I recommend a couple of Cisco Press books on routing that I keep handy when I have a senior moment. They are:

CCNP ROUTE Portable Command Guide by Scott Empson and Hans Roth

CCNP Routing and Switching Quick Reference by Denise Donohue, CCIE No. 9566 and Brent Stewart.

Best Wishes,

Richard S.
