Outage to lab Cisco 2950 (very little switch knowledge)

Long story short, I have a lab in which there are about 25 computers. This lab was working fine pre-pandemic and after a long break, it is no longer allowing a connection to the internet.  I have reset the switch and I am looking to learn how to set this switch(2950) up for internet access. I have got the very basics of setting up the switch however, I cannot figure out what the issue is and why it won't allow connection to the internet. If anyone is able to please help walk me through this process I would greatly appreciate it.

Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Hello @Justus17 ,

to connect to the internet you need NAT = NEtwork address tranaslation likely and so you need also a router/modem that can be provided by ISP or managed by you.

The Catalyst 2950 is just a L2 LAN switch it is just enough to have all its ports in the same VLAN to connect a port to the router/modem and all the rest of the job is done on the router/modem.

The Catalyst 2950 does not support NAT.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
