PRI Layer 3

Hi,

PRI controller's (0/0/0) Layer 1 and 2 shows up but there no call coming to layer 3.  Can you please suggest from where I should start the troubleshooting. Other 2x ISDN PRI working fine on same 2921 router. CUCM configuration look good.

    Layer 2 Status:

    Layer 3 Status:

    Active dsl 0 CCBs = 0
    The Free Channel Mask:  0x807FFFFF

Thanks for your response.

I wonder if the debug for Q931 might provide helpful information.

You perhaps need to check whether you have the right Telephone number for this PRI, as Richard suggested a Debug of Q931 will show you if the call is being received on the PRI interface.

Thanks Richards.

1) what do you mean by  right Telephone number for this PRI (how ot get this info).

2) There is no output on the screen after applying debug command. i tried to shut and no shut the interface.

Thanks for posting the output of show controller T1. I do not see anything in the output that would help to identify the problem.

I do not want to put words into Richard's mouth but I believe that what he was suggesting when he mentions right Telephone number is the possibility that what has been configured for accessing this PRI (especially from the remote side) may not match up with what your provider has provisioned for this circuit. If they are attempting to reach a certain phone number and what the provider has provisioned is a different number then it would explain why there is no incoming traffic.

Can you clarify a bit about the debug output? It may be that there is no debug output because there was no Q931 activity. But it also might be that there was no output because logging was not configured in a way that would display the output (perhaps logging level set higher than level 7 = debug, or perhaps terminal monitor not enabled, or some kind of issue like that). If you enable other debugs do you get debug output?

can you share the configuration of the 2921 router, to give us more information

Thanks Rishard.

Please find the attached debug output for your reference. There are other T1 ports connected, which is working fine expect 0/0/0:23.

Thanks for your response.

Thank you for posting the debug output. I believe that there are several lines which do indicate the problem

Jan  6 15:56:37: ISDN Se0/0/0:23 Q931: pak_private_number: Invalid type/plan 0x0 0x0 may be overriden; sw-type 13

Jan  6 15:56:37: ISDN Se0/0/0:23 Q931: TX -> DISCONNECT pd = 8  callref = 0x05ED
        Cause i = 0x80AF - Resource unavailable, unspecified

The first line is more difficult to interpret but indicates type/plan is invalid and probably indicates some mismatch between what you have set up and what the provider provisioned on the circuit. I suggest that you check with the provider and have them clarify how they set up this circuit. It may be that if you send them a copy of the debug output that they could interpret the error better than we can.

The second line is more clear and indicates that some resource is unavailable. My guess is that this relates to the first message and reflects a mismatch between what you have set up and what the provider did.

Thanks Rick.

I will check with ISP, however these errors appears with other interface but they are participating on the call and layer 3 active.

Hi Rick, Richard,

This problem has been resolve after hard reboot for the gateways. I am still working on the RCA.

Thanks for your support.

I am glad to know that the problem is solved. Thanks for posting back to the forum to let us know of this. This may serve as a reminder that sometimes when the config seems right but things are not working that a reboot may sometimes resolve the problem.
