Setting up Cisco 3550

Hi all,

I'm trying to configure a 3550 switch i've been given. I'm training for my CCNA.

I've got the switch all connected, however, when i turn the switch on, it doesnt go through a boot up stage.

I've got a flashing green light next to system on the switch.

When i load up HyperTerminal, it doesn't say switch:

it just has a flashing _

I can't type anything, hopefully someone can assist me?

I've tried going through the recovery method on cisco, but holding down the mode button does nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Load up your hypterterm before you start the boot of the switch. After hyperterm is running power up the switch, and then post any output that shows up in hyperterm.

This assumes that your hypterterm is set up correctly. Have you used hyperterm on this PC to connect to other Cisco devices? If not can you tell us what parameters you used to set up hyperterm?
