I am currently trying to set up a VPN network for a small business.the users will be at one location and the server is going to be moved to another. Do I have to install VPN client software on all of the PCs if I purchase a Router with VPN capabilities? and will I need 2 routers, one for each side of the WAN? any comments would be appreciated!

Hi,
Q: Do I have to install VPN client software on all of the PCs if I purchase a Router with VPN capabilities?
A: If they are mobile users, you can go for Remote Access VPN. You need to buy a device acting as vpn terminator such as router or firewall. You need to install IPSec VPN Client software for users. If you moved servers to other location and public IP address changed, you need to edit VPN profile on users as well. If users can connect to the internet, they also can connect Remote Access VPN no matter where they are.
Q: Will I need 2 routers, one for each side of the WAN?
A: You don't need to install a software on clients. Users can connect VPN when they are at the site/office.
If you moved servers to other location and public IP address changed, you need to reconfigure IP Peer on the router.
However,it depends on your design/budget/etc. IMHO, I'd be fine to use Remote Access VPN for few users.

Toshi,
Thank you for your reply, I don't necessarily have a budget, but the way the network will be set up will be there will be appx. 20 users at one site and the server for that network will be isolated at another site they do not have any mobile users yet, so I believe I will see about getting 2 VPN routers with firewalls. Thanks for your help!
