Simple OSPFv3

Hello, I was trying to set up a simple OSPFv3 configuration on Packet Tracer between two L3 switches 3650. They share a transit network of 10.100.10.0/16 , with ROUTER-1 using  IP 10.100.10.1 and ROUTER-2 using 10.100.10.2 connected to their gi1/0/1 ports on VLAN 100. The internal LAN for each device is on vlan700 and they use a /24 network (10.200.10.1/24 on ROUTER-1, 10.200.20.1/24 on ROUTER-2. I just want to use area 0 for now.

I can't get the two interfaces to ping each other and I think it may have something to do between IPv6 and IPv4. I want to use IPv4 addresses but I'm not sure if the 'old' version of OSPF3 supports them. Packet Tracer does not use the 'new' version of OSPFv3 which supports address-families. Could this be the source of my problem? I'm feeling very frustrated now so any help would be very greatly appreciated ! Thanks.

You are correct. The version you use does not carry IPv4 information, hence you not being able to ping from one router to the other.

Thank you ! Do you have any suggestions on how I may proceed for testing purposes? Will Packet Tracer provide support for address families? Thanks again for your help.

Hello

That's right! If your Packet Tracer doesn't support OSPFv3, you could try to update it, but you may need to run something with a real IOS, like GNS3. But be aware Packet Tracer is fairly limited in many ways.
