Static Null0 with Administrative Distance?

Hello,

Can anyone explain the value of using a static null0 route with an administrative distance?  We use these to seed the BGP table for /16 networks at various locations and I have noticed that some of them are configured with an administrative distance??

ip route 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0 Null0 10 name BGP_AGGREGATE

Thanks

Hello @wpalumbo06 ,

I share your same doubts.

it is the admin distance value that is only 10. This is worse only of normal static routes and EIGRP summary routes (AD 5)

Using an higher value like 210 would make more sense in order to have a chance to learn the same prefix in another way including iBGP.

Probably it is an habit or configuration template used in your company.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
