sup720 boot problem

Hello,

if anyone can help me with this problem please.

An Sup720 (with IOS 12.2 SRB) reloaded and got stuck in ROMMON mode.

when I manualy boot it, it loads and decompress image  to SP and  hands over booting to RP. Then RP download image, starts decompressing image and get stuck there.

Self decompressing the image : ##############################################################################################################

and after couple of seconds I receive this message

00:03:10: %OIR-SP-6-CONSOLE: Changing console ownership to switch processor

*** System received a Software forced crash ***

...................................... etc.

I tried few different ways to boot it up but everytime it ends the same way.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is it a hardware problem or I am not doing properly booting from ROMMON?

Regards,

A.

SRB?  What's your chassis?  7600?

Try a different IOS version.  Sounds like an IOS bug.

Hello,

yes it is 7609 chassis. I tried 3 different IOS versions from 3 different sources.

122-33.SRB2, 122-18.SXF, 122-18.SXE1 from disk0, disk1, and bootflash.

It worked fine for a year or so with SRB until a reload occured.

I attached log from console during the boot-up process (for 12.2 SXF from disk0), and output for SET in rommon mode on SP and RP.

thanks,

A.

Hi Antonio,

mistral_error_interrupt( 0x401ad054) means sup is getting  interrupt  and mistral is asic in sup. As it is again and again, it clearly showing the hardware issue.

Or try to Insert  other slot.

I tried other slot and other chassis as well. So it is hardware issue.

Thank you very much Mohseen

Wait a sec ... Didn't you say you have a 7600 chassis?  Why are you booting SXE and SXF IOS?  The last I checked, 7600 needs to boot SRB IOS.

Yes 7600, I have a few models of 7600 sup 720 running SXE and F. These IOSs are prior to divergence 7600/6500.

And the same result I have with SRB2.
