Using Async inteface as Console

Hi, i've setup a IR1101 for a customer where i got a request to see if we could configure the Async interface as console port (standard nly the usb port is console) and the Async is a standard serial interface. 

Short is it possible to configure the async interface as a standard console port to connect to using the pc.

Using an async interface to help in managing the device may be a possibility. But it is not possible to configure an async as the console port. An important aspect of the console port is that it is active during the boot process (shows boot activity). The async port does not become active until the boot process is completed and so can not be a console.

Hi, Thanks for you answer. "Using an async interface to help in managing the device may be a possibility" how would you configure it as a console "like" port afterboot ? I've got very little experience with the serial interfaces except between to routers.

I do not have experience with the 1101, so I looked at the documentation for it. I do not find any config option that will accomplish what you want. You want to connect a PC directly to an interface and to have the PC be able to issue commands and to make configuration changes. None of the encapsulation options on the async interface would provide that.
