I recently moved to a new place (Houston) and am hoping to use my 877 for my routing needs. I have no info and the searches turn up a whole lot of confusion about what I am hoping to know.
First, is it even possible to use the 877 without the 2 wire modem that ATT supplies?
Second, anyone have a generic setup for uverse? Like the encapsulation, pvc's etc?
I know I should be able to find this somewhere, but sitting at Starbucks every day is not making much sense either... I gave up my 837 at former place to get to use this 877...
Best, John

Yeah, it's possible. In your 2Wire router, you'll need to set up a DMZ and pass all traffic to the DMZ interface. Your 877 will get the public address while your 2Wire modem keeps the 192.x.x.x address and does your PPPoE authentication.
There's no generic setup that I'm aware of, but I had a hard enough time trying to figure out how to get my 2Wire to work with my router that I had.
HTH,

Thanks for the reply. I am/was hoping to see if anyone has gotten rid of the ATT modem to get it to work. Really like the Cisco stuff, like the sometime challenge getting it to work too.
I will set it up with the DMZ and go from there. Maybe somebdy will show up to help us get rid of the Uverse modem all together...
Thanks again!
