Vlan 3524

Dear All,

I have 3524 switch with ver 12.

I want to add 3 vlans , when I do no shut on vlan interface, it still shows me shutdown in running config.

So please any one can help me to bring that particular vlan up.

Hi Jithesh,

From what it looks like you are trying to add SVI interfaces

int vlan 1

ip address x.x.x.x Y.y.y.y

int vlan 2

ip address z.z.z.z y.y.y.y

This is not possible since 3524XL switch is a Layer 2 switch. The SVI interfaces are supposed to be used for management purposes only.

So this means you can't have two interfaces up at the same time.

Well you need to have a L3 switch\Router to which you can connect this 3524 too and have multiple networks. 3524 being a L2 switch cannot do inter vlan routing. Only L2 seggregation is possible.
