Hi everyone I have cisco switchs does anyone know how on the WAN interface you can view the ip address that you received from your ISP?
07-12-2018 09:06 AM
Hello,
try and shut/no shut the interface, you should get a DHCP related console message telling you which address has been assigned...
07-12-2018 09:20 AM
it does not work, I did the interface no switchport that I am connected to does not work either

Try;
show ip interface gi0/1
show ip interface brief (as mentioned earlier). You may share the output.
You could also try to get into the modem to view the leased ip addresses and associated macs.
But..
On second thought it looks like this switch is merely extending the broadcast domain of the cable modem switchport that its connected to. And since you say that all ports have internet, that may very well be the case. Can you confirm the addresses of one of the devices plugged in to the switch.

Hi,
How is the topology of your network, apparently there is no interface with dhcp configuration (show ip interface brief), the interface should be working as layer 3.

the toplogie is first the cabel modem is connected to a dlink which is connected to switches

Hello,
what is the purpose of the D-Link ? Why not hook the switches up directly to the cable modem ?
07-13-2018 07:51 AM
because cable modem only has 1 ethernet and has two switches
07-13-2018 08:04 AM
Hello,
so the D-Link is basically just a hub.
I doubt that you Cisco switch interface will receive an IP address at all. Which IP addresses do your clients have ? And which default gateway ?
07-14-2018 01:26 AM
i get on my wan an ip of the dhcp now open the standard ports how can i close it
SW2#sh ip interface brief
07-14-2018 01:49 AM
Which ports do you want to have open/closed ? You can use an extended access list and apply it to the Gigabit interface...
07-14-2018 01:55 AM
i want to have the wan GigabitEthernet0 / 1 closed, otherwise I do not have internet on other interface
