WARNING: Attempting to use bootflash for packages storage!

aguertin
Level 1
Level 1

Cisco ISR 4331

on boot up I receive this alert:

%IOSXEBOOT-4-BOOT_SRC: (rp/0): WARNING: Attempting to use bootflash for packages storage!

This is after moving from ios 16.6.4 to 16.9.3.

we had to make this jump in order to utilize the boost performance license we purchased.

I have two brand new 4331 routers and both routers give this alert after upgrading ios.
Neither router gave this alert before.

I have been unsuccessful in finding any documentation on the alert.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Does this error message appear once?
If it does only appear once, it is OK to ignore it.

@Leo Laohoo

This warning is displayed once at every boot up.

I haven't seen any impacts yet from this, but the fact i cant find a shred of documentation for this warning is concerning.

All i can guess it is ios related as neither of these new routers threw this warning before i upgraded the ios.

Running configs were identical except for the addition of the boost license.
