What is "Factory ID"?

Hello all experts!

No matter how I search on the internet about "VS-SUP2T-10G", there was no datasheet...!

And then I found that VS-SUP2T-10G's Factory ID was VS-S2T-10G!

But I don't know the difference between them.

Could you explain the difference?

Regards,

SK.

Hello Soon,

I think to put it in simple terms, Factory ID would be nothing but the part ID that can be RMA'ed (shipped to you for replacement). I think this is the field that should also show up on show module or show inv command output on your router.

Hope this answers your question.

Vinit

Thanks

Cisco's formal name is VS-S2T-10G not VS-SUP2T-10G.

What makes you think VS-SUP2T-10G is a valid product ID?

I could also say I searched for part KD^&F%@DS and didn't find it on the Internet - but that doesn't make it valid.

As you can see the picture, listed name on SUP.

After seeing this picture, I posted my question on this site.

Hi Vinit.

Can you tell me one?

What is formal title between VS-SUP2T-10G and VS-S2T-10G?

My customer continuously asks me..

and I want to know what is correct..

Regards,

SK.

I am not sure if i understand your question correctly. The card is called SUP2T with 10G interfaces. the part id is VS-S2T-10G.

Please let me know if you have a different question than what i answered.

Thank you^^

Hmm~

For example, cisco has a lot of switches such as WS-3750G-24TS-E.

Like this, VS-SUP2T-10G is also cisco's formal name?

I wanted to know this nuance!

You can always find an exact part id and its description on Cisco's website.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/switches/catalyst-6500-series-switches/relevant-interfaces-and-modules.html

Also, each hardware can have a bit different naming convention, thus it is better to search based on description and you can find the exact part id based on that.

Hope this helps
