Would a Catalyst 6840-X pair be a good "core switch" upgrade to a 3750 stack?

Hello,

We have an 8 switch stack of 3750x2 poe and 3750 v2's acting as our "core switch" in our data center.  We do have a 2901 router where our remote connections are connected (Ethernet handoff from one provider to two locations, and another provider to two other locations).  We use the routers at each location (2901 or 2911 series depending on location) and IP SLA to ensure the traffic goes over a ventus wireless lte router if the ethernet link goes dead.  We also push qos for voip.

In our HQ there are about 150 employees.  We also have a roof mounted FSO laser to link to another building 3 doors down from us, which is connected by 2 3750X2 poe switches in a switch stack.

Looking to make the "core" more redundant, would purchasing two 6840-X with 32 SFP/SFP+ ports and moving the vlans to it (vtp server mode) and basically doing all the IP routing (making it the default gateway at least at the HQ) be a good upgrade?

Also interested in upgrading the connection between our VMWare server rack which is 4 x 1 GB links in LACP to two 10GB links via appropriate SFP+ connections, as vm sprawl dictates a better backbone connection.

Interested in Netflow to SolarWinds Orion, and also any enhanced security measures that I see could be made available by TrustSec.  We are implementing ASA 5520X firewalls in the next 30 days or so.

Would also be interested in upgrading our 5508 Wirless lan controler to a newer 5520 series with a single 10gbe uplink to both 'cores' vs the current configuration of 4 x 1Gbe LACP link.  And when doing so, why not get two for full redundancy.

6840 is actually a Sup2T.  So whatever feature the Sup2T has will probably get migrated to the 6840.

By the way, 6840 also supports Instant Access.  So you can/could potentially upgrade the 3750 into 6800IA switches.
