Need to add additional ISP when setup Viptela

Hi I have two questions for setup new Viptela.

1. I can see SDWAN topology has at least two connections to ISP.  if the network has only one mpls or one general internet connection to ISP, when we want to add SDWAN Viptela, do we need to add another ISP link?

2. Looks like adding Viptela to network requires devices vEdge, vSmart, vBond and vManger. some of them could be virtual one. so at least what hardware do we need to buy? Thank you

WAN-Edge can work with only one Transport/ISP/MPLS link as long as WAN-Edge can reach the Controllers over that link.

Controllers and vEdge Cloud can be deployed on KVM/ESXi with following hardware/software configurations

Hi,

  1. You can use a single ISP or whatever you have as long as controllers are reachable through it.
  2. As part of the framework you have can have all the controllers spun by cisco as a cloud delivered service or you can have on prem setup with even the enterprise CA.
  3. you can have the complete solution fully virtualized or can have mix of hardware vedge and software controllers.
  4. The whole process is Zero touch using the cisco pnp system which provides all the necassary day 0 automation and security
  5. For the hardware modules you can have ASR/ISRs, ENCS, or Vedge for software you can have CSR or vedges cloud as well.
  6. There is a complete sizing and initial installation guide in the below link

Hope that answers

Thank you so much for your reply. Do you have some document link for the single ISP SDWAN?

You can find alot of information on the link below and the link shared before

Cisco SDWAN solution is transport independent so what ever you have (MPLS, Internet, LTE etc) from what ever ISP you use, you can use it. The overlay is created using transport. once overlay is done , and controllers are up, you can manipulate policies based on ISPs (TLOCS) or any other methods. Remember you need to color (tag) your link type like public-internet, or biz-internet or private (mpls) etc..You can also put carrier information on each link and then manipulate your policies as required. By default if the reachibility permits , the DTLS (Vedge to controllers) session is created using all links and same for BFD(ipsec sessions between sites)
