Guidelines for requesting licenses

Depending on the PAK that you have purchased, you might be asked to enter either of 1 or 2 mac addresses. This depends if the PAK is for Failover Bundle (FO) or Standalone.

When requesting a license for NAC Profiler Server or Collector, you will always use ONLY the Profiler Server(s) eth0 mac address(es), depending on the PAK: FO or Standalone.

NOTE: The Collector mac addresses are NEVER used for any licensing purposes.

--> The challenge lies on identifying whether the mac address(es) should be provided in UPPERCASE or in lowercase.

* If your profiler is pre-version 3.1 then you need to provide the mac address in UPPERCASE without semicolons or dashes

PAK =..................

Primary_mac in UPPERCASE, mac address of eth0 from Profiler server= XXXXXXXXXXXX

Secondary_mac in UPPERCASE, mac address of eth0 from Profiler server= XXXXXXXXXXX

* If your profiler is on version 3.1 and onwards then you need to provide the mac address in lowercase without semicolons or dashes

PAK =..................

Primary_mac in lowercase, mac address of eth0 from Profiler server= xxxxxxxxxxxx

Secondary_mac in lowercase, mac address of eth0 from Profiler server= xxxxxxxxxxxx

Examples:

1 - Collectors in HA and Profiler in Standalone running version 3.1 or later:

Profiler eth0 mac address = ad:12:de:34:55:ff

Profiler Server license will be generated with the following data:

PAK = xxxxxxxxxxx

MAC addr = ad12de3455ff

Profiler Collector license will be generated with the following data:

PAK = xxxxxxxxxxx

Primary MAC addr = ad12de3455ff

Secondary MAC addr = ad12de3455ff

2 - Collectors in HA and Profiler in HA running version 3.1 or later:

Primary Profiler eth0 mac address = ad:12:de:34:55:ff

Secondary Profiler eth0 mac address = ad:12:de:64:33:aa

Profiler Server license will be generated with the following data:

PAK = xxxxxxxxxxx

Primary MAC addr = ad12de3455ff

Secondary MAC addr = ad12de6433aa

Profiler Collector license will be generated with the following data:

PAK = xxxxxxxxxxx

Primary MAC addr = ad12de3455ff

Secondary MAC addr = ad12de6433aa

3 - Collector and Profiler in Standalone running version 3.1 or later:

Primary Profiler eth0 mac address = ad:12:de:34:55:ff

Profiler Server license will be generated with the following data:

PAK = xxxxxxxxxxx

Primary MAC addr = ad12de3455ff

Profiler Collector license will be generated with the following data:

PAK = xxxxxxxxxxx

Primary MAC addr = ad12de3455ff

Final Notes

If you are on profiler and you are facing problems to install your license, edit it with notepad and check:

- are the mac addresses in the correct case?

- was the correct Profiler eth0 address(es) provided?

Hi,

it seems that when you upgrade from 2 to 3.1, you need to get new license with the lower case mac address. So maybe this is worth mentioning since changing your license for an upgrade is not a common thing.

Thanks !
