Core issue
Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) appliances lose access to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and the Command Line Interface (CLI) if the administrator name is same as the hostname.
These are the results when the CLI is used to set an administrator account for the Cisco Secure ACS appliance when the administrator name is the same as the ACS appliance name:
- The operation succeeds, and a new account is created.
- The Failed to get admin account name rc=0 error message appears.
- The new administrator account fails to appear on the GUI.
- Subsequent attempts to set an administrator account through the CLI fail.
- After an attempt to reset the password with the recovery CD, CLI access is lost. GUI access remains available only if another regular GUI administrator account is present.
Resolution
As a workaround, ensure that the administrator name is different from the hostname.
If this problem occurs, the ACS appliance needs to be re-imaged.
