Core issue

The ability to ping the Cisco Secure ACS Solution Engine 3.3 from within the LAN is disabled by default. The Cisco Secure ACS Security Appliance is a hardened, locked-down system and is designed with security in mind. The Cisco Secure ACS Security Appliance uses a Windows strengthened image, which has all redundant services and connections stopped. It was made to keep all viruses, worms, and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attackers out.

Resolution

Disable the CSAgent to allow the Cisco Secure ACS Solution Engine 3.3 to respond to ping requests.

Note: When the CSAgent is disabled, the appliance is not protected by the Cisco Security Agent (CSA). For information about the protection CSA provides for the Cisco Secure ACS Solution Engine, refer to the CSA Policies section of Overview - User Guide for Cisco Secure ACS Solution Engine 3.3.

For details about how to disable the CSAgent in the Cisco Secure ACS Solution Engine, refer to the Enabling or Disabling CSAgent section of the User Guide for Cisco Secure ACS Solution Engine 3.3.
