Core issue
After the activation code for the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Content Security and Control Security Services Module (CSC SSM) is entered through the Setup Wizard, a password prompt appears that requires input (either unknown or unconfigured). This password prompt stops the new "plus license" activation code from being accepted.
Resolution
As a workaround, perform these steps:
- Access the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and go to Configuration >Trend Micro > CSC Setup > Activation/License.
- Try to enter the activation code without the Setup Wizard.
- Using the Setup Wizard, try the default password (cisco).
Note: The default password (cisco) can be used if a password is not configured.
The default username and password pair for the Command Line Interface (CLI) is cisco/cisco. However, the password may have been changed or corrupted. If the default password does not work, access the CLI and perform a recovery procedure on the module. To do this, issue the hw-module module 1 recover and hw-module module 1 boot commands.
Note: The Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) and the CSC SSM maintain separate passwords.
