Core issue
VPN Concentrator release 4.1.7 supports the Outlook/Exchange (MAPI) Proxy for Microsoft Exchange e-mail, with specific versions of Outlook and Exchange. These are supported:
- Exchange 2000
- Exchange 2003
- Outlook 2000
- Outlook XP
These are not supported in the current version:
- Outlook 2003 is not supported with any version of Exchange Server, but it will be supported in future releases.
- Exchange 5.5.
Resolution
In the VPN Concentrator, under Configuration > User Management > Base Group or Groups (WebVPN tab), select Enable Outlook/Exchange Proxy. The client machine must have Java version 1.4.1.
For more information on configuration, refer to WebVPN End User Set-up.
To use Outlook/Exchange(MAPI) Proxy, the client machine must make a connection to the Exchange server before making one through WebVPN. The remote user machine must log on locally at least once before this works through WebVPN. The Java application that runs for port forwarding learns what it needs from registry entries for the Exchange server.
Verify with these registry keys, according to the OS version:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WindowsMessaging Subsystem\Profiles\
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\
