Core issue

The %HIFN79XX-1-ERROR: chifn79xx_crypto_callback() toolkit return failure  %HIFN79XX-1-PKTENGRET_ERROR: Hifn79xx PktEng Return Value = 0x20000, Hifn79xx_PktEngReturn_MACMiscompare error message indicates an HMAC authentication failure for incoming IPSec packets. This message has been documented in Cisco bug ID CSCea29573, which is a duplicate of Cisco bug ID CSCed87408.

Resolution

For a workaround, disable the hardware accelerator in order to use software encryption. To do this, issue the no crypto engine accelerator command.

Note: If this action significantly impacts the performance of the router, replace the hardware engine accelerator card.
