Core issue
A local user takes his laptop home and is able to connect to the VPN gateway, but is not able to pass traffic to the LAN behind the gateway. The VPN gateway gives the client an address that is in the same subnet as the workstation's NIC.
Resolution
The IP address needs to be removed from the NIC and/or the MS route to that subnet needs to be removed. For more information, see VPN Clients with Microsoft Routing Problems.
