How do i perform a break before startup?

I have tried control  C

control Z

Control B

Alt C

Alt Z

Alt C

I needed to put the reset of my TACASC into the router, but it times out on me

I am using a 4331

using a laptop with no pause or break key

On my Lenovo notebook I think it is CTRL-FN-B or FN-ALT-B or FN+CTRL+P to send a break.  Something like that.
